I know no one asked for it and probably don't want/care, but here's my brief thoughts on the various iterations of Dune: What are you babbling about? I suppose giving people facts could bias their opinions, I guess that's why it is frowned upon on fark. Lifeslammer: SirDigbåhickenCaesar: PvtStash: i find it to be a misnomer to compare them like this in the first place. so you biased their opinions instead of just letting them watch and then talking about it after, like every single sane parent on earth does SirDigbåhickenCaesar: PvtStash: i find it to be a misnomer to compare them like this in the first place. Yeah I saw it with my kids and gave them about a 45 minute Dune history lesson first. My big beef o the 2nd one is that it seems made for people that have read dune already. For nearly 3 hours of screen time, they really tell very little story and the charters stay very WISYWIG simple.I find there is a very big difference between "room for a scene to breath" and "padding out run time with long intro/outro shots."It holds the screen time well, i did not get board during it, but i did notice for all the run time, the pie chart of actual story told or character details developed remains a rather thin slice of the total time pie. they are just each their own separate works of art that really have nothing to do with each other, past being inspired by the same source material.
So in that way, not really movies that can be 1:1 compared in that way.
The book has to be so heavily edited to become a screen play, it's never really "dune" but 'a movie inspired by dune." PvtStash: i find it to be a misnomer to compare them like this in the first place.
